July 2021 Updates (Writing)

By Eugena On July 24th, 2021

Readers out there may be happy to know I am going to return to my writing endeavors. I put off a lot of it (not just social media and website or blog updates) due to that unwanted attention I have mentioned before. Other things interfered as well, but that is not something I am going to say in public. No, I wouldn’t call those other things nefarious or such.

Well, no more. No more what? Let me say this in a whole sentence:

No longer will I permit the unwanted attention to get in the way of me living my life. Those person(s) know exactly who you are, and you will get no warnings from me. Not that, in some cases, the warnings have meant anything.

I am not tolerating it any more. I have already metaphorically put my foot down here. I wanted to say this more publicly on my blog here. No longer will any of these people get in my way. Whine all you want, I dare you to send me instant messages, emails, etc.

I will take appropriate action.

Thanks for listening readers. Now for the exciting part.

I am considering entering an important competition. Unfortunately, some of my planning files are missing, so I will have to recreate much of it.

You may notice I have started referring to The Age of Merrik as The Age of Merrik & The Sword Masters. The Age of Merrik is the series featuring Merrik during his time as ruler, while The Sword Masters refers to the written universe as a whole. Dark Desires occurs under the “umbrella” The Sword Masters. I’ve done a lot of backstory on Eleya and the Sword Masters. I am working on Rise of the New Masters and Book 3 at the same time. I have the cut off point between them, but have not yet decided on which book some of the secondary scenes will appear in.

I once planned a game, Shattered Sky, based on The Anointing. That was with RPG Maker Ace software. I later worked one planning a different story with RPG Maker MV software. This second game focused on a new sword master, Talissa. It occurred before The Age of Merrik. Yet none of my planning has gone to waste. I planned for a character from Rise of the New Masters to appear in the game. Now Talissa and another character from the game will appear in Rise of the New Masters along with that other character.

July 2021 Updates (Website)

By Eugena On July 24th, 2021

I am a bit shocked I haven’t received any emails from “those of you out there who know who you are.”

As to my online endeavors, I am finishing up transitioning to my new website. Well, it is transitioning to a website I’ve had for a long time, but now my sites are all going to be here.

Quick Q & A to get out of the way:

Where did the comments feature go?

In an effort to prevent very inappropriate comments, I have disabled them. I do not need my readers here to be subjected to reading comments of “unwanted attention” from those I have referenced in previous post and several times in this blog. I am watering down quite a bit. On other blogs, I have had someone actually try and make it sound he/she was going to come to my house and . . . ? Well, what? I am not sure, but no need for that here.

Also, disabling comments will get rid of any problems users may have the comment hosting service, which was wordpress.com on some prior blogs and disqus on prior hosted blogs.

But how can I leave a comment?

A few ways. For any written work, I will usually post a link to where it has also been posted, such as FictionPress. You may also contact me via email (see contact page). I am not on Facebook often, but you can leave a message there. Just don’t expect to get a response any time soon.

Are there any interactive features anymore?

Sure, in fact I have a few things planned. For now, readers are invited to The Age of Merrik’s Fanpop Page for polls and quizzes.

Why are there are no previous results in the polls or less than before?

Since switching over now to polls via Fanpop, the old results from WordPress (com) and hosted blogs are not available. There were other poll results on the Fanpop page back when it was first started, but I don’t know what happened to them. Fanpop now has a new layout from before, so that might be related.

What happened to the first review for The Age of Merrik: The Anointing on Amazon’s Page?

I am keeping thoughts on this to myself for particular reasons, very good reasons. Though please feel free to read and leave your own review. Thanks!

Merry December 2014

By Eugena On December 16th, 2014

Hi everyone.  I hope you all are having a fun-filled and safe holiday season.  Last month was National Novel Writing Month, and I didn’t get my goal of 50,000 words, but I did get over half.  I’m pleased to say that The Age of Merrik: The Anointing sequel, Rise of the New Masters, should be finished by the end of the year.  Then I anticipate some time for edits and later publication.  Considering the large amount of material I have already written for it, I will be breaking my draft of Rise of the New Masters into Rise of the New Masters and (I don’t feel like sharing the title quite yet, SPOILERS) book number 3.

I look forward to a prosperous 2015, filled with (among other great things) more books.  Merrik Moulton and I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry, fun, and safe holiday season.

The Age of Merrik: Relationships and Such

By Eugena On November 4th, 2008

Ok, getting to another question.

This one stems from the screenplay version:

What is the big deal with the vow? Why not break it?  (See this post)

And a combo from the novel:

What is with the “I think I might kiss her” obsession from John? What’s the big deal about kissing? Does it mean something else?
(Yeah, put the something else in “”)

To answer them all at once, the big deal with the vow is very cultural. To break it is to lose honor. And, consider the explanation of the vow.  Merrik risks losing power by simply breaking it.

Kissing. That relates back to the vow. In real life, kiss all you want. Just be careful of mono. In the AOM world, if you are a sword master or wizard or other magic user, be careful not to lose your life. You are transferring your power to another, whether or not you want to.

The cautions of the vow become part of the culture, and even non-magic users (who may not know the origin) are cautious of it. As for “something else” it does not refer to that. Think of how much more power a character would lose that way. To answer an unspoken question, there was none of that between Merrik and Brianna. Good thing, Brianna did not need to absorb any magic power, and Merrik did not need to lose any.

Mirrors: Brianna and Liana

By Eugena On November 3rd, 2008

What’s next with Brianna?

I haven’t really decided what to do with her. In the previous version, I knew how she would show up again, but now, I am considering other ideas.

I had Brianna and Liana as reflections of each other. They were essentially the same, just on different sides of the battle. One difference . . .

Who is worse, Liana or Brianna?

The following post contains spoilers for The Age of Merrik: The Anointing. It contains references to graphic character violence (perhaps not that graphic, but some young readers might not wish to read it).
