Fifth Division in the Red reveals many things.
Here is a list of things from my October 2022 blog post.
CONTAINS SPOILERS
- Daichi is Shirahime’s biological son and not adopted (which is already stated, but this may be mentioned more in the revisions)
- Shirahime does not mind Daichi being called adopted as it protects him (this was implied), but the new info is:
- Ichigo (Kurosaki) called Daichi his son.
- Crown Prince Ichigo accepted Shirahime’s new children as his own (not that they agree).
- Shirahime again tells Nemu she can call her what she wants (which is to call her mother).
- This was planned to be discussed post Soul of Shirahime and will be discussed here.
- Implied in my in-progress draft of Princess of Memory [MA Only]
- Daichi calls Yumichika his father. Kenpachi Zaraki still acts like his father as well.
- Yumichika got close to Daichi before he joined the fifth division.
- Daichi blames himself for what he notices as Shirahime’s breakup with Yumi.
- Everyone besides Shirahime, Kenpachi, and Yachiru thought Kenpachi would be Daichi’s father.
- Mayuri decides to be Daichi’s father in Soul of Shirahime, but it is not yet discussed as to why he thinks that is necessary considering Yumi is his father.
- Mayuri Kurotsuchi (prior to Nemu calling Shirahime her mother) wanted to be Daichi’s father to get closer to Shirahime. Most likely Daichi’s twin’s father as well. In Princess Division, it is explained a bit better that it would be an honor to be considered a father of her child (not as it could be interpreted from part one as only as a means to get close to Shirahime).
- Although Raiko exists as a zanpakuto, she really is Daichi’s twin sister that Shirahime hid inside of Daichi in order to keep their biological father from knowing he had a daughter in addition to Daichi.
- It is heavily implied exactly WHO is Daichi’s and Raiko’s father, although it is not explained.
- Later on, this is discussed in Soul of Shirahime. Shirahime says she begins to understand why “he” keeps saying he is Daichi’s father. This is actually not a new revelation post Red Gemini, so this will get edited or explained that Shirahime must have forgot.
- It is implied via the story before Fifth Division in the Red that Shirahime knows who this father is and could be argued she believes him.
- Daichi names Yumi as his father, while Raiko names Shinjiro as her father.
- Raiko refers to Shiroyuki as her father as well and is well-versed in the traditions of the royal family.
- Retsu Unohana, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and Kenpachi Zaraki had suspected Daichi had a twin.
- Kosetsu can appear as a winged boy. Shirahime calls him her eldest son. Yachiru and Daichi acknowledge him as their eldest brother. Kosetsu references he has a father and implies it is either Toshiro Hitsugaya or Hyorinmaru.
- One of the stories that specifically reference Yachiru’s past self as Princess Hikari. Other stories refer to her as the unnamed child of Shirayukihime no Tenjou.
- Refers to an intimate moment between Shirahime and Shinjiro in the later parts of Immortal Princess [MA Only]. Toshiro Hitsugaya ruined it.
- Shirahime’s relationship with Byakuya Kuchiki:
- The pheromone tea a/k/a poison tea caused Byakuya to go down the path of obsession over Shirahime and jealousy over who she is with.
- That “Talk” Again and Inner Soul may have to be reworked to address this. It should be implied that Byakuya would marry her first – aside from that one time because of the tea.
- Shirahime’s relationship with Jushiro Ukitake:
- Explains this and relates it to Jushiro’s role as Mimihagi’s host.
- Will appear in Princess of Memory [MA Only].
- Shirahime’s relationship with Retsu Unohana:
- Kenpachi Zaraki’s relationship with Retsu Unohana:
- Refers to a previous relationship between the two of them.
- Kisuke’s relationship with Shirahime:
- As referenced in Princess of Memory [MA Only] and Immortal Princess [MA Only], Kisuke did not want Shirahime when he first met her. His attitude changed after Shirahime died.
- Benihime:
- Was Shirayukihime’s sister.
- May be related to Kisuke’s zanpakuto in a way like Yukihime (no Tenjou) is to Shirahime.
- This revelation was featured in AU: Within Your Heart, Desolate (Original Version).
- Shun Shun Rikka:
